Due to changes in the budget, the wait time is unknown at this time. You can submit an application as the waiting list is currently open, but we cannot determine how long it will take for your name to move to the top of the list.

How long do I have to report a change?

10 days from the change date. For employment changes, it is 10 days from the hire date.

How do I report a change?

All changes must be submitted using the form To report a change found on the forms portion of this website. You must also submit documentation to support the change (employment statement, termination statement, etc) along with the form.

How do I transfer my voucher to another area?

You must fill out the form To transfer out of Boone County available on the forms portion of this website. You will need the name of the housing authority you are transferring to, their address, phone number, fax number and a contact person. Please allow 30 days for transfers out.

What if I want to move in Boone County?

You must fill out the To move with voucher in Boone County form on the forms portion of this website. Once we receive this form, you will be scheduled for the next available briefing to receive your new voucher. Please allow 30 days for this process.

How do I terminate assistance?

You must fill out the form To terminate assistance from the forms portion of this website.

Who is the contact person, should I have a question about the waiting list?

The intake worker is Bobby Barnes, 859-334-2105. We are unable to tell you a time that you will receive a voucher as this is dictated by things out of this offices control.

Who should I contact if I have issues with the landlord?

We don't get involved in disputes with the landlord. This is something that will need to be solved between you and the landlord. The only exception could be maintenance issues that are not being addressed. Chris Hutchison, 859-334-2105, is the inspector and he would be the one you need to talk to.

Is the Section 8 program accepting applications?

Yes. All applications must be submitted on line using the link on the left of the page.

How does the Section 8 program work?

What is the application process for Section 8?

The demand for low income housing in Boone County exceeds available units. The need is great enough that a waiting list has been established. Application may be submitted on line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once the application has been correctly submitted, an email confirmation will be sent to the email address provided by the applicant. Once the applicants name reaches the top of the waiting list, an appointment will be necessary to collect the documents outlined in the email.

Does Section 8 help with security deposits?

The Section 8 program does not assist with any security deposits.

Does BCAH choose the tenant for landlords?

No. The screening and selection process of tenants is the sole responsibility of the landlord.

How will I be notified of appointments and briefings?

Approximately 2 months after you apply to the waiting list, you will receive a letter via the US Post Office for an intake appointment. This letter will be sent to the address you provided when you applied online. We are not responsible for an incorrect address, incomplete addresses or if you have moved without notifying our office of said move.
Should you complete the process, you will be notified of a briefing via email. This email is the email you provided at the appointment and has been verified with you.
